Chris Marve joined Colorado in 2026 as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach after three seasons in the same roles at Virginia Tech.
In Blacksburg, Marve helped the Hokies develop one of the ACC’s top young linebacker groups while improving across several defensive categories. Virginia Tech finished his first season ranked among the nation’s top 25 in total defense, with linebacker Dax Hollifield earning All-ACC honors and emerging as one of the conference’s leading tacklers.
Marve previously coached at Florida State, Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. With the Seminoles, he helped mentor Jermaine Johnson II, who led the ACC in sacks before becoming a first-round NFL Draft selection. His list of NFL pupils also includes Willie Gay Jr., Oren Burks, Zach Cunningham and Stephen Weatherly.
A native of the Magic City, Marve was a four-time All-SEC linebacker at Vanderbilt. He finished his career with 397 tackles and 30 tackles for loss before earning his degree in human and organizational development and beginning his coaching career with the Commodores.
