Cory Nelms joined Colorado in 2025 as an assistant strength and conditioning coach, bringing experience as both a professional football player and collegiate track athlete.
Nelms played cornerback at Miami from 2007–10 while also competing for the Hurricanes’ track and field program. He won ACC championships in the 60-meter hurdles indoors in 2009 and the 110-meter hurdles outdoors in 2010, showcasing the speed and explosiveness he now helps develop in Colorado’s athletes.
After going undrafted in 2011, Nelms signed with the San Francisco 49ers and spent time on their practice squad before joining the Oakland Raiders. He was promoted to Oakland’s active roster late in the 2012 season and appeared in an NFL game against the San Diego Chargers.
A native of Neptune Township in the Garden State, Nelms later returned to Miami as an assistant track coach before making the move to Boulder.
