Jason Phillips served as Colorado’s wide receivers coach from 2024 until retiring from coaching at the start of fall camp in 2026.
During his time in Boulder, Phillips oversaw one of the most productive receiving groups in program history. He coached Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter during his record-setting 2024 campaign and helped develop LaJohntay Wester and Jimmy Horn Jr. All three receivers were selected in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Phillips brought more than two decades of college and professional coaching experience to Colorado, with previous stops including Jackson State, Utah State, Oregon State, SMU, Baylor, Kansas and Houston.
A Crowley, Louisiana, native who later starred in the Bayou City, Phillips was a consensus All-American at Houston in 1988 after leading the nation in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns. He later played 10 professional seasons in the NFL and CFL and was inducted into Houston’s Hall of Honor.
Phillips also shares a longstanding friendship with Deion Sanders dating back to their NFL playing days in Atlanta.
