Justin Houlihan joined the Colorado football staff in January 2026 after assisting the offensive staff at Sacramento State.
Houlihan transitioned into coaching with the Hornets following his playing career at Sacramento State. He appeared in 16 games as a linebacker and special teams contributor, earning Big Sky All-Academic honors in 2022. That season, he recorded 11 tackles, forced a fumble and added a pass breakup.
Before arriving at Sacramento State, Houlihan played two seasons at American River College, where he totaled 72 tackles as a sophomore. He previously started three seasons at Nevada Union High School, earning all-league recognition each year while playing for his father. Houlihan finished his high school career with 340 tackles, including 19.5 tackles for loss, across 33 games.
A product of California’s Gold Country, Houlihan earned his degree in business from Sacramento State.
