Bill Grier joined Colorado’s men’s basketball staff in 2016, bringing extensive head coaching, recruiting and player development experience to Boulder.
During his first nine seasons, Grier helped the Buffaloes win 182 games, reach two NCAA Tournaments and make four Postseason NIT appearances. Colorado also recorded five 20-win seasons during that span. He has helped develop numerous All-Pac-12 performers, including McKinley Wright IV, Tyler Bey, Derrick White, Jabari Walker, Tristan da Silva and KJ Simpson.
Before joining CU, Grier spent one season at Oklahoma State and eight years as head coach at San Diego. He led the Toreros to the 2008 West Coast Conference Tournament title and the program’s only NCAA Tournament victory, an upset of fourth-seeded Connecticut.
The Oregon native previously spent 15 seasons at Gonzaga, helping the Bulldogs rise to national prominence as a defensive coordinator, recruiter and position coach. Grier earned his degree in leisure studies and services from Oregon.
