Alex Ward joined Colorado in 2026 after reclassifying and enrolling early, a decision that allowed him to begin his college career alongside his older brother and fellow Buffs receiver Christian Ward.
Ward grew accustomed to competing above his age early, playing against older kids from the time he began football in third grade and receiving his first college offer while still in eighth grade. He later finished his prep career at IMG Academy after playing at Walton High School in Georgia.
The Peach State product describes himself as shy until he gets comfortable, then talkative, funny and relaxed. Away from football, Ward enjoys movies, fishing and studying NFL receivers. He hopes to explore Colorado’s mountains and fishing spots and has even talked about eventually investing in real estate and building a home in the state after football.
For Ward, Boulder represents both a football opportunity and a chance to share the college experience with his brother.
