Balansama Kamara joined Colorado in 2026 after a winding college journey through Temple, Hutchinson Community College and Albany.
The Philadelphia native began his career at Temple, even transitioning from defensive end to outside linebacker before taking the junior college route and eventually finding a home on Albany’s defensive line. His time there culminated in first-team All-CAA recognition, made more impressive by the fact that he played through a hand injury during much of his breakout season.
That persistence fits the way Kamara has long described himself. As a high school recruit, he characterized his game as aggressive and said he refused to stop playing until he heard the whistle.
The City of Brotherly Love product played three varsity seasons at Central High School and earned Pennsylvania Big 33 recognition before beginning a college path that required him to repeatedly adapt, change levels and keep working toward another opportunity.
Kamara is the son of Fatmata Marah and Desmond Grant and has a sister, Aminata.
