Ben Finneseth joined Colorado in 2021 as a preferred walk-on from Durango and built his career through special teams, persistence and eventually an expanded role in the secondary.
After years as one of CU’s most dependable special teams contributors, Finneseth earned a scholarship in front of his family and teammates in April 2025. He later made six defensive starts, recording 27 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery during the 2025 season.
The Centennial State product was a three-sport athlete at Durango, helping the football program win a state championship while also competing in baseball and wrestling. His father was a three-time All-American wrestler at North Dakota State.
Finneseth has pursued just as much away from football. He studied biomedical engineering with an electrical engineering minor, helped develop closed-caption glasses designed to make live events more accessible, and even earned a five-day WWE tryout. He hopes his CU legacy is defined by the leader he became along the way.
