Boo Carter joined Colorado ahead of the 2026 season after spending two years at Tennessee, where he emerged as a versatile defensive back and return specialist.
Carter appeared in 21 games with five starts for the Volunteers. As a freshman in 2024, he earned SEC All-Freshman honors after recording 38 tackles, three tackles for loss and an interception while leading the conference with 16.5 yards per punt return. He added 25 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles in nine games in 2025.
A consensus four-star prospect out of Bradley Central High School, Carter was named Tennessee’s Class 6A Mr. Football after totaling 1,795 all-purpose yards, 27 touchdowns, 102 tackles and two interceptions as a senior.
The Scenic City product grew up in Chattanooga and played multiple positions throughout his prep career. Carter models his game after Tyrann Mathieu and enters Colorado with experience in the secondary and return game.
