Chauncey Gooden joined Colorado in 2025 after a decorated career at Lipscomb Academy in his hometown of Nashville.
Gooden started three seasons under three different head coaches, an unusually varied high school experience that included playing for former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer and Hall of Fame offensive lineman Kevin Mawae. He helped Lipscomb win consecutive state championships and developed into one of Tennessee’s most highly regarded offensive line prospects.
Mawae saw something beyond Gooden’s size and talent. He praised the way Gooden moved and carried himself, but also noted something simpler: Gooden genuinely enjoyed playing football, and it showed in the way he played.
That sense of fun accompanied a player who earned the “Alpha Dog” designation at an Under Armour camp and multiple All-State honors before reaching Boulder.
The Music City product is the son of Tim and Jae Gooden and has a younger sister, Maliyah.
