Colby Johnson joined Colorado in 2026 after playing three varsity seasons on both sides of the ball at Eastlake High School in Sammamish, Washington.
Johnson earned all-league recognition during each of his final two seasons while developing as a linebacker and also competed in track and field, where his speed showed up in the 100- and 200-meter events.
His off-field résumé may be just as revealing. Johnson spent four years involved with the National League of Young Men, participating in philanthropic work each month. When he isn’t playing football, he gravitates toward pretty much anything outdoors: dirt biking, fishing, wakesurfing and mountain biking are among his favorite ways to spend his time.
The Pacific Northwest product comes from a family with two brothers and brings a combination of multi-sport athleticism, community involvement and an outdoors-heavy personality that should fit Boulder rather naturally.
