Demetrius Hunter joined Colorado in 2026 after four seasons at Houston, where he developed into a veteran center and multi-year starter.
The Orange, Texas, native was a team captain and Under Armour All-American at West Orange-Stark High School before staying in his home state for college. Football also runs through his extended family: cousin Earl Thomas became a Pro Bowl safety and Super Bowl champion, while relative Chris Cole spent four seasons with the Denver Broncos.
But Hunter’s CU bio gives fans a much better introduction than his offensive line résumé alone. His nickname is appropriately “Pancake,” his hidden talent is playing the tuba, and he enjoys music, singing and relaxing. Hunter describes himself as funny, blessed and an “old soul.”
His favorite childhood memory is getting food with his dad after little-league games, while his game-day routine centers around prayer, music and a good warm-up.
