Ernest Campbell joined Colorado ahead of the 2026 season following a breakout year at Sacramento State and an earlier stop at Texas A&M.
Campbell earned FCS Central Freshman All-America honors in 2025 after leading Sacramento State with 37 receptions for 755 yards and eight touchdowns. His 20.4 yards per catch set a Hornets freshman record, while his six receptions of at least 50 yards established another single-season program mark. Campbell erupted for nine catches and 206 yards against Montana, becoming just the fifth Sacramento State player to surpass 200 receiving yards in a game.
Campbell spent 2024 at Texas A&M, where he also competed in track. He earned honorable mention All-America recognition in the 100 meters and posted a personal best of 10.02 seconds.
A Coastal Bend native, Campbell won consecutive Texas 2A state championships in the 100 meters while starring at Refugio High School.
