Gideon ESPN Lampron joined Colorado in 2026 after becoming an All-American at Dayton and an all-conference linebacker and team captain at Bowling Green.
The LaGrange, Ohio, native was a two-way standout at Keystone High School, playing running back and linebacker, earning three All-State selections and becoming a finalist for Ohio Mr. Football. He also competed in track before beginning a college journey that took him from the FCS level to Bowling Green and ultimately Boulder.
And yes, ESPN really is his legal middle name. His sports-loving father, Marty, put it on the birth certificate after Gideon was born, despite his mother preferring Xavier. The name is pronounced “ESS-pen.” Gideon has since embraced the unusual moniker, even enjoying the occasional need to prove with his ID that it is real.
For a lifelong football player, the name turned out to be remarkably appropriate.
