Kole Mathis joined Colorado in 2024 and made his collegiate debut on kickoff coverage against Wyoming in 2025 after redshirting his first season.
Mathis finished his high school career at Fairview High School in Boulder after transferring from Grace Prep Academy in Arlington, Texas. He played his senior season under longtime Colorado high school coach Tom McCartney before beginning his college career with the Buffaloes.
For Mathis, football and Colorado are very much family affairs. His father, Kevin Mathis, played defensive back in the NFL and now coaches Colorado’s cornerbacks, while his older brother, Kaleb, plays wide receiver for the Buffs. That gives Kole the unusual experience of sharing a college program with both his father and brother.
The Arlington product has spent his time in Boulder developing in the secondary while contributing on special teams.
