Liona Lefau joined Colorado ahead of the 2026 season after three years at Texas, where he developed into an experienced starter at linebacker.
Lefau appeared in 42 games with 22 starts for the Longhorns, totaling 139 tackles, eight tackles for loss, three sacks and six pass breakups. He recorded 69 tackles in 2025 and scored his first career touchdown on a 53-yard fumble return against Arkansas. The previous season, he started 10 games and contributed across the stat sheet with 63 tackles, an interception, two sacks and a forced fumble.
A four-star prospect from Kahuku, Lefau was Hawaii’s 2022 Defensive Player of the Year and helped the Red Raiders win consecutive state championships.
The North Shore product brings his island upbringing with him wherever he goes. Former teammates have described Lefau as respectful, humble and family-oriented, someone willing to handle small jobs without complaint. He also became known for taking over the locker-room music with a relaxed Hawaiian vibe.
