Preston Ashley joined Colorado in 2026 as an early enrollee after establishing himself as one of Mississippi’s top defensive backs at Brandon High School.
The Under Armour All-American earned All-State honors and Class 7A Defensive Player of the Year recognition, but Ashley makes it clear that football is only part of how he sees himself. He loves meeting people, learning new things and bringing energy to the people around him. A 4.0 student who scored a 28 on the ACT, Ashley takes particular pride in being recognized for his work in the classroom as well as on the field.
Football runs through his family. His father played at Ole Miss, while two uncles reached major college football and one later played for the Green Bay Packers. Ashley says his parents’ work ethic shaped his own.
The Magnolia State product felt such an immediate connection to Colorado that he cried after committing, knowing Boulder was where he wanted to be.
