Sean Kinney joined Colorado in 2026 after two seasons at Lafayette, bringing a background that makes his transition to the interior offensive line particularly interesting.
The Nazareth, Pennsylvania, native was an All-State lineman in high school, but football was only half of his athletic identity. Kinney was also one of Pennsylvania’s elite heavyweight wrestlers, reaching the state finals four times and winning three individual state championships. His success on the mat drew multiple Division I wrestling offers before he ultimately pursued college football.
Kinney’s high school résumé also reflected plenty beyond athletics. He served in student government and on the Student Athletic Character Council, earned honor-roll recognition and was selected as a scholar-athlete.
The Keystone State product’s wrestling background remains one of the most distinctive parts of his story, with the balance, leverage and hand fighting required on the mat translating naturally to life in the trenches.
