Yahya Attia joined Colorado in 2024 after one of the more international paths to Boulder.
Born in Egypt and spending part of his youth in Austria, Attia did not begin playing American football until 2022. He eventually earned a place at the NFL Academy in England, where he developed into one of the program’s top offensive line prospects before signing with Colorado. He has since lined up at several positions for the Buffaloes, including guard, center and tight end.
Attia still views the NFL Academy as home and makes a point of returning when he travels overseas. More importantly, he sees his own career as a way to create opportunities for others.
The international Buff has spoken about wanting his success to put players from Egypt and the NFL Academy “on the map,” making his goals in football bigger than simply what he accomplishes individually in Boulder.
