Yamil Talib joined Colorado in 2026 after beginning his college career at Oklahoma State and spending the 2025 season at Charlotte.
The Richardson, Texas, native started his college journey as a walk-on at Oklahoma State before earning a larger opportunity at Charlotte. His rise follows a standout career at Berkner High School, where he became the team’s leading tackler and earned District Defensive Player of the Year honors.
Football is part of the Talib family identity. Yamil is the nephew of Aqib Talib, the former Kansas All-American, five-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion whose NFL career included several seasons with the Denver Broncos.
Aqib remained involved in his nephew’s college journey and viewed Colorado as a place where Yamil could grow under experienced coaches while building his own identity. For the younger Talib, Boulder offers another step in a path that began without a scholarship and has steadily grown through earned opportunities.
