Cadel Ayala joined Colorado in 2026 after beginning his college career at Saddleback College, continuing a kicking journey that grew out of a much different sport.
The Reno native spent years playing soccer before specializing in football, primarily as a striker. Ayala credits that background with developing the footwork, accuracy and consistency that eventually translated to kicking and punting. He played three varsity seasons at McQueen High School before moving on to the junior college level.
Ayala describes himself as someone who takes pride in being coachable and leading by example, with a strong emphasis on improving both athletically and academically. Away from football, he has also competed in golf, participated in honor society and volunteered with Special Olympics and community outreach programs.
The Biggest Little City product arrived in Boulder after taking a less conventional route to major college football, building his opportunity one specialist camp and season at a time.
