Malachi Brown joined Colorado in 2026 after playing at Monterey Peninsula College, where he established himself as one of the nation’s more highly regarded junior college defensive linemen.
The Bay Area product attended Milpitas High School before taking the junior college route and earning Power Four opportunities through his performance at Monterey Peninsula.
What stood out to Brown during his recruitment was Colorado’s authenticity. After visiting Boulder, he said he appreciated that the staff presented themselves as they really were rather than putting on a recruiting show. He was equally drawn to the program’s message that nothing would simply be handed to him.
Brown understood the expectation clearly: if he wanted an opportunity to play, he would have to earn it.
That mindset fits a player whose own route to the Big 12 came through junior college and a season spent proving he belonged at the next level.
