Tad Boyle was named Colorado’s head men’s basketball coach on April 19, 2010, and has since become the winningest coach in program history.
Boyle has led the Buffaloes to six NCAA Tournament appearances, 10 of the program’s 14 all-time 20-win seasons and a school-record seven consecutive postseason berths from 2011–17. His 2011–12 team won four games in four days to capture the Pac-12 Tournament championship, while his teams have recorded 28 victories over ranked opponents.
Boyle has also built a strong record of player development. Twelve former Buffaloes have reached NBA rosters during his tenure, including 10 NBA Draft selections. In 2024, Cody Williams, Tristan da Silva and KJ Simpson gave Colorado three draft picks in the same year for the first time in program history.
A Greeley native and former Kansas captain, Boyle played under Larry Brown before beginning his coaching career in the Centennial State. He later led Northern Colorado to a school-record 25 wins before taking over at CU.
